A Familiar Face for Your Most Important Day

Hi, I'm Brenda Wells

I was ordained through the Universal Life Church in 2019, and from the very first ceremony I officiated, I knew this was exactly where I was meant to be. There is nothing quite like standing at the front of a room — or on a beach, or in a barn, or a backyard — and watching two people choose each other.

I welcome all couples and all types of ceremonies. Religious, spiritual, secular — whatever reflects who you are and what you believe, I'm here for it. Your ceremony should sound like you, not like a template.

By day, I'm a professor at East Carolina University, where I've spent decades teaching, researching, and mentoring students. I've given hundreds of presentations to audiences of all sizes, which means I know how to hold a room — and how to make a moment feel meaningful.

I'm also an accomplished painter (pet portraits are my specialty), and yes, I once performed stand-up comedy at the Addison Improv in Dallas. I bring that same warmth, humor, and genuine love of people to every ceremony I officiate.

I'm based in Chocowinity, NC, and I serve couples across Eastern North Carolina — from the banks of the Pamlico Sound to the shores of the Crystal Coast. I share my home with my fabulous rescue dog, Tito, who unfortunately does not officiate weddings.
